It seems that Brazil is certainly welcoming 2008 with a bang. Despite recent bad press due to Investor skepticism over the viability of Brazil’s property market, the country has fought back and emerged scathed but bearing good news, proving that they are still a hot commodity.

A Discovery to Carry a Nation

Last January 21st one of Brazil’s energy giant, Petrobas announced that they have discovered a large gas reserve in the Tupi oil field. As a result, Brazil’s already sizable oil reserve is becoming bigger. Petrobas will also rise higher in rankings as one of the world’s largest oil company. More financial capability is now at the country’s finger tips; priority programs such as socially and economically targeted agendas are easier to implement; the resources of this breakthrough is providing Brazil with the means to augment the country’s long term growth.Notwithstanding the fact that the World Bank downgraded Brazil’s business viability, towards the end of 2007, the Brazilian Stock and the Brazilian real estate attained record highs and Bovespa grew up to 72%, beaten only by China’s Stock Market.
Brazil’s GDP has also grown consistently since 2007 effectively advancing the country’s economic standing.

In recent years, United Kingdom’s Homebuyer’s Show North and Property Investor stated that the Brazilian Property’s capital growth is 20 % in the last, beating even some of the European countries record.

An Economic Crisis

Although the impending dip in the US economy is worrying potential investors, Brazil is in a position to weather out the slump and credit crisis because of its current stability. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is committed on sustaining Brazil through the financial crisis that is currently gripping the world.

The president’s assurance and unwavering tenacity shows political stability which allows the Investors to see that Brazil’s property market is secure. Even HSBC’s Private Bank Head Chris Allen, considers Brazil a good market to invest on. He has been saying that Brazil is to be considered a haven for potential investors due to development in the owner-occupier property segment, low interest and falling inflation rates, and a generally stable political environment.

Another assurance that Brazil is stable, was given by Regis Abreu who said that “Economic growth in Brazil this year won’t be affected so much, despite the credit crisis and slump in global financial markets, thus Brazilian companies will still enjoy robust earnings growth,”. Regis Abreu manages 2billion worth of assets in Rio de Janeiro for Mercatto Gestao de Recursos. He has calculated that the companies which are included in the Bovespa Index will experience a growth of 15 to 20 % this year.

The immense growth of Foreign Direct Investment underlies Brazil’s popularity with the global investment community. Brazil is the third largest beneficiary of foreign investment, even bigger than that of India and Japan.

The oil discoveries, the stock market growth, political stability and even the FDI’s are indications that the Brazilian property market has a promise of profit. Countries such as Dubai and Norway both experienced a rise in their economies due to the factors mentioned above and Brazil’s is quickly following suit.

Tourism’s Economic Impact

Aside from economic and investment prowess, Brazil has its tourism industry to offer. It is currently drawing International Investors both big and small, even individual financiers are taking a piece of the pie. The remarkable beaches, the exotic lifestyle, and great year round weather are attracting tourists around the world.

The influx of tourist in Brazil paved the way for urbanization and business development. European and British travelers are fast in recognizing the advantages of taking a vacation in Brazil. For one, the buying power of the Euro and the British pound is quite substantial; another enticing factor is that the cost of living in Brazil is just 1/5 compared to that of Britain and Europe.

Even if you add up the airfare costs it is still cheaper to take a vacation in Brazil rather than going to another European country. What’s more Brazil offers a wide variety of affordable accommodations; the food, the drinks, and the carnival atmosphere is really attractive and reasonably priced as well.

Like all emerging markets Brazil needs support, encouragements, and investors for it to reach its full potential. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is firm in his resolve to see Brazil through reliable, consistent, sustainable and realistic growth.

A rising number of foreign investors are looking in on the prospect of getting a tidy profit from real estate acquisition in Brazil. The major changes in rules regarding property purchases made by the Brazilian government further increased the clamor for assets, both from local and foreign entities. Aside from the economic growth which the region has been enjoying since 2001, the government mandate on real estate in 2005 has proven to be a stepping stone in attracting investors into the Brazilian real estate market.

The financial stability of Brazil, especially on the southern end of the region, is due to foreign investors flocking into the country and grabbing properties left and right. Many foreign investors who enter the city provide more job opportunities for the locals. This is which, in turn, boosted significantly the revenue of the entire region. For one, the Brazilian Central Bank (BCB) reported an 8% jump in the region’s overall revenue, most of which is attributed to real estate.

Domestic and Foreign Investors

The market for real estate first bolstered among the locals, and later expanded when the international market started to notice the region’s potential for profit. The 2005 amendment on real estate acquisition focused on mortgage guarantees by small and large financing institutions. The inclusion of “fiduciary alienation” allows the Brazilians to become the full owners of the property when the full debt has been paid off. Though the risk with this kind of transaction may stretch the financial instability of the locals due to the 12% standard annual interest, many are still adamant to get their own property.

Foreign investors are also into real estate acquisition all around Brazil. Due to the high tourism value, as well as the sudden influx of foreign businesses, many local developers strive to create opportunities that would cater to and satisfy this need. Europeans, in particular, are hell-bent on acquiring prime real estate to be converted to tourist spots and resorts, both for commercial and recreational purposes. Residential areas are being developed to address the growing demand for proper housing, as with condos, apartments, tenements, and so on.

The beauty of the Brazilian countryside became a factor for the sudden influx of foreigners who wish to have a second home in the region. When the Brazilian government invested millions into developing transportation facilities in-and-out, including airports, roads, railroads, highways, and ports, the number of international arrivals naturally rose, as well.

The government was able to conduct a tally on the number of arrivals in Brazil in 2007. There have been a total of 70 million tourists who visit the region every year. A percentage of this opts for a second home in the area. It has been projected that around 80,000 residential areas need to be set up within the next 8 to 10 years to accommodate them.

Another reason why foreign investors seek to acquire properties in the region is the total cost of construction. The reduced taxes on construction material, coupled with cheap labor, are enough to bring around profit-hungry individuals into building a presence. Moreover, the major drop in interest rates from 25% to 12% has made the prospect of economic growth even brighter.

World Bank Helps Brazil’s Economy Rise

The Board of Directors of the World Bank approved to finance Brazil with a total amount of $505 million, to further fuel the growth of the region. The loan will be used to improve many of the existing assets, to make way for the entry of fresh investments.

One of the microeconomic improvements being set as target for the $505 million loan is the cost of Brazilian products. Reducing these will also decrease the price of these valuable goods so as to be able to compete with global products. Infrastructure will also be addressed to develop the business sector.

Technological innovations will also be a prime target so as to increase both the educational and commercial aspects of the region. These improvements will come in the form of job opportunities for well-educated individuals who benefit from the technological reforms. This will, in turn, allow them to provide quality services to foreign and local companies. In short, the future appears to bode well for the Brazilian real estate market. Now the challenge is how to actually make these plans see through smoothly, without politics getting in the way; which, of course, is another issue altogether.

By 2050, Goldman Sachs envisions Brazil to be the 5th largest global economy. When it comes to the property market, it is slated to be the next scorching commodity.

When You Say Investment Market?

Mention Brazil to any savvy investor and he’ll tell you that Brazil is the finest when it comes to emerging property markets. Brazil is said to be the World and human kind’s rescuer. While every country is emitting carbon dioxide, Brazil is producing oxygen. In the future, no one in Brazil has to work due to Carbon Credit. Brazil has all the resources with so small a population. A huge oil field has just been discovered, and this will surely bolster Brazil’s economy and appeal even more.

The Temptation That Is Brazil

There are a lot of reasons why Brazil is on its way to the top of every British financier and prominent investors. For one, if you’re a foreigner and you’re buying a Brazilian property, then legal ownership of the property is a hundred percent unconditional. This means that you are entitled to the same rights as Brazilians are.

The rental market is also relatively strong, with 180 million people and just a few homeowners. They also have a tourism industry that is bolstering and British people are coming in an unstoppable rate apartment. Housing investors are also assured of solid returns. Through the rise of the Brazilian economy, the middle class is gaining more and more buying power that will usher in rising real estate prices. What’s more, 1 British Pound is equal to 3.41576305 Brazil Real.

Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo are the most prevalent property markets. With a projected rental yield of 18%, developers around the world are really going into the Brazil real estate. Even so, smaller towns like Lucas do Rio Verde should also be considered with its potential as an uncharted territory whose revenues can be capable as well.

The Charisma of Quaint Towns

If you’re the type of person who loves the English countryside, but abhor the cold and drabby weather, the Brazilian countryside will definitely appeal to your senses. Lucas do Rio Verde is one of those towns.

Lucas do Rio Verde’s appeal comes from the fact that even though it is in the Brazilian “back streets”, the people there are quite well to do. Their hospital’s are spotless, the schools are the best in the country, there’s absolutely 0 unemployment and the whole town is complete with a bicycle path.

If you’re a relatively young couple looking to raise a family far from the hustle and bustle of the big city and still have all the comforts of the U.K., then Lucas do Rio Verde is the right choice for you. The town is relatively young, only 20 years old and it is the fastest growing in Brazil. It is growing so fast that an extension is currently under way.

According to the town mayor’s brother, Paolo Franz, “Four years ago, I advised a friend from Illinois to buy some land as an investment. He paid $37,000. Now this land is worth $350,000.” Twenty years ago, land at Lucas was given away for free now its costs 996 British pounds.

However, if you want to invest in Lucas, you have to understand not only real estate but agriculture as well. This is to fully reap the benefits of putting your money into the town.

Before Investing in Brazil

There are a few things one should remember before investing in Brazil’s property market. Novice investors should know that cheap is not always for keeps. For one thing, the exchange rate itself will cause an average Briton to do a back flip and become a hungry grabber. Avoiding this pitfall is not all that easy, but it is doable. It is important to consider the proximity and quality of the land that is being bought.

The sun deprived British people the chance to worship the beach and end up buying any seaside property that is for sale. Again, note proximity, Brazil is so large that it occupies almost half of the South American continent. Seaside real estate is useless if it’s not near any amenity.

An investor looking to save a few shilling by not hiring a contractor will end up spending a lot more than expected. Being in a foreign country can make people susceptible to shady deals. It is important to contact the right agent while still in the UK. Never purchase a property abroad without first taking a look at it.

The Capital of Rio Grande do Norte is Natal. It is situate 2600km to the North of Sao Paolo. The population today reaches up to 710,000 residents. The population is still increasing due to the influx of real estate developers and overseas investors. If you’re one of those who wants progressive growth and stability coupled with unending access to miles of untouched beaches then Natal is the perfect spot for you.Billions of dollars are being poured in from foreign financiers in an effort to develop as well as profit from Natal’s natural appeal. As a matter of fact residential resorts, residential areas, flats and condominiums are currently being constructed, as well as 10 golf courses and resort hotels. The City’s increasing popularity in the tourism industry is no coincidence as Brazil is Marketing Natal as the ultimate Holiday destination, foreign investment opportunity as well as possible residential address.

Natal is the city of sunshine with temperatures ranging from 27 degrees during the day and 24 degrees in the night time. Located near the equator, Natal’s climate stays consistent all year round and is not subject to unpredictable weather and dreary rain unlike Britain. However, there is a rainy season which is from April until June, there is no cause for worry though because in Natal the sun always shines 365 days a year to be exact.

Natal is situated in Rio Potengi, with quite a number of beaches appropriately in town. There are several apartments and resort hotels for anybody looking to invest right in the middle of downtown Natal.

Natal means Christmas or Nativity in Portuguese. It is one of the most historical and beautiful city of Brazil. What’s more, according to NASA it has the clearest air in all of America. The City’s history is so rich that a tourist will never run out of places to visit, and if you do get bored, there are always the beautiful azure beaches to laze around and sun bathe in.

Investment Incursion from Abroad

The Brazilians are shouting hurray. This is since their growing economy allows them to actually have homes of their own. But it seems that glee is not just for domestic consumers but also for foreign buyers and investors. The real estate crisis and the grinding halt of the property market in countries like the United Kingdom has caused the attention to be switched into Natal. With the growing hopelessness of the possibility of actually owning a property in Britain, the British are looking into foreign markets like Natal.

There is a growing urgency for Britons to own a home, and they are picking Brazil because of its attractive beaches, beautiful cities, and growing economy. Infrastructure developments like railroads, highways, airports and ports are taking Brazil out of the provincial era and into a world of recognition. Confidence in Natal is rising, Britons are recognizing that the property market in Natal is in an upsurge and ripe for the picking.

Natal’s Tourism industry is growing, the city by the Beach is really making people want to have a vacation and stay in Natal, which makes the demands for rentals and leases really high, and for the young British looking to own a home and gain extra profit – Natal is just perfect!

Unrepressed Growth

In Natal alone, real estate values have more than doubled in the last year. Investors are coming in due to affordable taxes, cheap labor, and downward interest rates. The prospect for yield is very positive.

At first Natal was overshadowed by Sao Paulo which is the more prominent amongst of the Brazilian cities. But the construction of a new international airport set to open in Natal on 2009 is creating a property buzz around the city. Although a bit more cosmopolitan than you can imagine, Natal is both familiar and refreshing. Steeped in history and set in picturesque surroundings Natal is a tourist mecca which is making investors even more excited over it.

An influx in tourism equals business opportunities. People want amenities, which a city can offer. At the same time the quiet tranquility of being on a seaside resort is achieved. Residential resort communities and flats are also great especially when the beach is readily accessible and just a few minutes walk from where one lives. Compared to other countries, Brazil is more appealing to the British because of the exchange rate, low cost of living, new developments and tropical climate.

Why Buy Now?

Natal’s market is ripe for the picking. Even though its popularity is on the rise, most of the British, Europeans and other multinational investors are not yet up to key on the market viability of Natal.

Natal is playing a significant part in Brazil’s growing economy and tourism industry by attracting huge developments like golf courses, hotels and resorts. Plus, becoming home to Latin Americas biggest airport is also becoming an advantage. The convenience is also unparalleled. This is because natal is a city you will be provided with all the conveniences of shopping, restaurants and bars. It’s a get away that will bring you closer to nature without sacrificing the services of modern living.

Currently, cheap construction taxes, construction materials and labors should be a driving force behind potential investors. With tourism growing, prices are likely to grow. This means that setting roots and looking at all the traffic of comings and goings will secure your place in Natal’s Property Market. In Britain, you will never be able to buy a luxury property for just 50,000 pounds to 100,000 pounds. So start young and end up with lots and lots of money once the Natal property market ripens.

In the next year, with more developments and the opening of the new international airport, Natal’s commercial and residential property markets are going to see a significant rise in prices. If Brazil encounters inflation, continues to decrease interest rates and have stabilization in their growth rate, this possibility will soon become a reality. So, while the market is not yet saturated, it is better to take advantage of the property market in Natal now.

The British have invaded Pipa. Don’t be alarmed, they are merely seeking the sun and the beautiful beaches that Pipa has been blessed with. Pipa gives Britons a respite from the frigid British climate. Last year alone, Brazil saw 2.1 million tourists. This year, they expect to see 2.5 million or even more. 18% of the tourists were from Europe, a mix of British, German, Portuguese, Swedes, and Italian citizens. With Spain and Tuscany becoming more and more expensive, it seems that British and European young bloods, as well as old ones, are looking into Brazil as an alternative.

The British and European Invasion

A new-fangled brand of investors is emerging and dipping their toes into Pipa’s property market. Drawn in by the climate and affordable offers, the British are now buying abroad and renting back home.

Housing costs have dramatically risen in Britain, and this makes Pipa an idyllic location for a home purchase, especially when most British spend their holidays in Brazil. Natal is just 7 to 8 hours away from Britain by plane, and Pipa is just 80 km away.

Brazil has a rising economy, fantastic climate, great beaches, plus the bolstering property market around Natal is working very well for Pipa. In 2009, Latin America’s airport is set to open in Natal bringing even more tourism into the region. In Pipa, one can usually purchase a seaside apartment for just 55,000 pounds. This amount is considerably smaller than if you were to acquire a decent flat in London.

Brazil’s northeast coast is fast becoming all the rage when it comes to property investments. High appreciation values and bargain prices are making the eyes of financiers pop out of their sockets.

The hottest trend in the real estate market that is giving the British property market quite a blow are people who purchase properties overseas and merely renting in Britain. The rising fees in the British real estate markets have driven themselves to look for more reasonably priced properties else where. Typical practitioners of this method of investing are the young bloods who are eager to invest their hard earned money. These are also the ones who don’t have enough funds to buy prime real estate, so they turn their attention to other countries with lower prices. This is with the added bonus of wonderful climates and beaches.

Research shows that 37% of people under 35 are fearful that they will never be able to own a property in Britain, so 40% of them would rather acquire properties else where instead.

Now, even well experienced financiers are seeing the light and potential profit in making investments abroad. The sagging British property market, substantial price growth in Brazil and considerable turn around are making the demographics of overseas investors grow rather higher than those who are willing to invest right here in Britain. More Mature investors are purchasing properties in Pipa with the intention of retiring there in five or some years later. Still, others merely want a winter vacation home, a place to stay in a bid to avoid the dreary weather of Britain

The Place to Be

A Village situated in Rio Grande do Norte and just an hour’s drive south of the Tibau do Sol district in the city Natal, Pipa has long been purported as Paradise’s likeness. With the Guarairas lagoon on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other, your senses will be assaulted with the wonders and beauty of nature on the moment you arrive. When you speak of the northern coast of Brazil, Pipa is the place to be situated in. In Pipa, you will find not just the beauty of nature but also beautiful people, tranquility and fun all in one place.

Pipa is home to a lot of turtles and dolphins. Perhaps this is because it is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Guarairas Lagoon. In fact the meaning of the name Pipa is “between two waters”.

Driving from Natal to Pipa will enrapture even the most insensitive of persons. From the road, you will see the clear and warm watered beaches, vast coconut plantations, natural water pools, impressive cliffs and view points sheltered by the Atlantic Forest. On the other side are the precipices coves and pearly sand dunes. Pipa is to be found within the largest ecological sanctuary in Rio Grande do Norte and voted one amongst the 10 most breathtaking beaches in Brazil.

In the 1980’s Pipa became celebrated for its enjoyable nightlife and great waves which beckoned surfers from all over the world. Unknown to their British and European counterparts, the wealthy Brazilians have long known of the splendors that Pipa holds. Enclosed by seemingly unending beaches and nature, Pipa is the playground of Brazil’s rich and famous.

The main beach of Pipa is perfect for children, families or even couples. This is due to its calm waters and sheltered beaches. The water is just ideal at 27 degrees anytime, all year round. The village itself offers a wide variety of activities from the usual quaint boutiques to delightful restaurants, canoe rides, horse riding, buggy trips, surfing, trekking, swimming with the dolphins and a leisurely stroll around town.

Voted as the utmost in Brazil’s nightlife, Pipa boasts of its ability to give its visitors the utmost fun night out. In Pipa, everyone has a great time, from the old to the young, to locals and foreigners everyone can blend together and have fun.

Pipa has always been for those who know the “who’s who” of Brazil, but now the world is joining in, particularly the British and Europeans who are looking for a great time and a great investment. Today, there are numerous developments.

Fortaleza is the capital of the Brazilian state, Ceará. For decades, Fortaleza has been one of the most well known tourist destinations in Brazil. Recently Fortaleza’s popularity has been arousing the attention of the British, European and even their neighbors; along with the American travelers, and financiers.

So, what makes Fortaleza so attractive? Perhaps, it’s a combination of the people, culture, food, sunny beaches and the sexiness of Brazil itself. To top that off, Brazil is very peaceful, has a low cost of living and is not plagued with natural disasters.Fortaleza is a city that is surrounded by miles and miles of endless sandy beaches and azure waters. It is located in the northeast side of Brazil. Its clear waters stay warm all year round. Fortaleza has nearly 3 million people who are friendly and welcoming to tourists. With the sun, sand, hot nightlife and great food – what more can you ask for

An Eye for a Good Deal

Britain is about 8 hours away from Fortaleza and the British and European people are hot on their heels in getting there. Why? Aside from being a dream vacation Fortaleza is also the perfect place to invest those hard earned money, which is not quite enough for a flat or a house even in the drabbest place in London. You can purchase an apartment that has a great view and I positioned right in middle of the city for just about 70,000 pounds. A beach lot will only cost around 5,000 to 7,000 pounds.

Brazil was not always the first place a Briton will think of when it comes to a vacation destination and even for investment purposes. Famous choices were Spain, the South of France, or somewhere in the Mediterranean. But all that changed, as Spain went into a market stand still. Moreover, properties in other locations that were reaching its peak, are now valued higher than most British people, which only the younger ones can afford.

Multi-faceted Fortaleza

Fortaleza is a mix of the old, the new, and a little bit of both with a pinch of the Caribbean. It has history, character, and the amenities of modern living. Fortaleza has a Historic area which is rich in beautiful forts, and ruins. Aside from this, every street is somewhat a part of a story. These areas are not as crowded as the main city streets. The city has great shopping privileges, and restaurants that will amuse any British traveler. The beaches are heavenly. If you want peace and quiet, some beaches are left undisturbed. You really won’t be bored or run out of choices in Fortaleza. Whichever place you like, Fortaleza can deliver. It is a matter of choice when it comes to lifestyle.

The food is delectable and the wide variety of superb and fresh seafood will surely make your mouth water. Fruits, nuts and vegetables are also available all year round. This ensures that you have freshly prepared meals that will make you ask for more.

The nightlife is sizzling and totally Brazilian: sexy and with lots of dancing. Fortaleza will give you fun, tranquility, nature and everything else you can imagine.

Profitable Ventures in Fortaleza

Brazil with all of its charms has a bolstering real estate industry, soaring rental revenues and consistent growth is attracting multinational investors to build resort hotels, community resorts, residential resorts, luxury apartments, and flats. Brazil’s currency is also another attracting factor 1 pound is equal to 3.43 Brazil real. This means that the British generally get more bangs for their money.

Although the Brazilians are increasingly gaining economic well being, tourism is still a big factor due to the Business it brings. This is why Brazilians are not at all too opposed at the idea of Having British and European people move to the city of Fortaleza. This is because they also benefit from it economically.

The Phones are ringing off the hook and this is also the first time property investors are lining up. They all want a piece of Fortaleza and the wonderful life it presents. Financiers are splurging billions of money to build and cater to the influx of British visitors, and potential investors that may go to the city.

In the beginning, British people are merely looking for a taste of sunshine and the allure of Brazil, but when they get there they fall madly in love and may decide to come back again and again. This is until they finally realize that the potential of owning a vacation home, which they can also profit from.

Britain is considered as the largest target market for tourist homes. Brazil is making such an impression that investors are in a frenzy of building in order to gain an advantage with the relatively young property market that is in Fortaleza.

Factors That Makes Fortaleza Such An Investment Attraction

The property market problem in England and the rising costs of a vacation home in southern Europe and the Mediterranean is aiding Brazil’s rise to popularity. In Brazil a person can buy a flat for 75,000 pounds. Now, if that same flat is located in Spain its asking price would be around 200,000 pounds or even more.

What’s more, the cost of living in Fortaleza is a lot cheaper than it is in Spain, the south of France or anywhere else in southern Europe. A sure sign that Fortaleza is gaining notoriety is the fact that the British people are willing to spend 7 to 8 hours of flight from England to Fortaleza in order to get the kind of lifestyle they want.

Furthermore, residential resorts and luxury apartment buildings in Fortaleza have all the amenities that one could not get anywhere in England, unless you’re a millionaire. Concierge, twenty four hour security, and even house helps are all available.

The Fortaleza property market has never been so ripe for the picking. Now is the time to take out those wallets and look into investing on a beautiful beachside property or a flat with a view of the beach. The market is still unsaturated, the growth and profit potential is still substantial. This is if you invest while the real estate industry in Fortaleza is still on the rise.

Recife is the Venice of Brazil, a mixture of ancient churches, old buildings and skyscrapers that make up for an interesting combination that is Recife. Although considered as the fifth largest city in Brazil, Recife is a little less cosmopolitan and modern than Sao Paolo and other famous areas in Brazil. It was only recently that Recife was thrust into recognition. This made foreigners more of a novelty to the citizens. With Recife’s rising popularity and potential for investment, should foreigners and investors be welcomed with open arms, in order to promote Brazil’s economy and tourism as a source of business?

Having read the article, “And the World for All” by Cristovam Buarque, has made me wonder, are we as tourists and possible investors have the right to own land and live in a country that is in fact so far from ours? Are we then usurers of the beauty that Recife bestows upon its humble and wonderful citizens?

A Brief History

The city is the capital of the Brazilian state Pernambuco. Recife is surrounded by water, the Atlantic Ocean and several rivers. This is why bridges are built all over, to connect the whole city, and which is also why it is likened to Venice. It is regarded as the cultural capital of Brazil. A tropical haven with generally warm temperatures, Recife has an all year round temperature of 26 degrees to 32 degrees Celsius.

Recife’s language is predominantly Portuguese. This is probably due to the fact that it is the first location in Brazil to be settled by the Portuguese crown. Assigned to the Captaincy of Duarte Coelho Pereira, Recife flourished because of its sugarcane industry. Finding it difficult to introduce the craft of the sugarcane industry to native Brazilians, Pereira imported slaves from Africa and India. The mixture of the Indian, African and Portuguese people has made Recife such a culturally diverse city, that the evidences are found in their music, food, and dancing.

Recife first held the world’s attention for being a “Digital Port” likened the San Francisco of Brazil. Investments amounted up to 100,000,000 in dollars. This is with companies, tapping into cheap lands in order to build on. Cheap labor is also propagated for computer parts manufacturing.

Introducing Recife

The City of Recife is situated at the back of a lengthy and protective coastal reef. It was named Recife meaning “reef”. Trade is the primary source of income, culture and energy in Recife because it is a major city port. The city itself is quilted by a mixture of the old and the new. If you allow chance to give you an unforgettable discovery, you will find out why there is so much hype about this Brazilian city which has often been compared to Venice due to its numerous bridges and waterways.

A great choice for Britons looking to buy a home in Recife is the luxury district of Boa Viagem. Boa Viagem is a waterfront locale which possesses the city’s finest restaurants and beaches right at the center of the city. Recife’s nightlife is concentrated here and in Gracas.

If you want to explore the more historical parts of Recife, begin at Praca da Republica and visit the Teatro Santa Isabel, which is a notable 19th century theatre. From there go on onto the Catedral de Sao Pedro dos Clerigos, and then pass through the vividly colored Mercado do Sao Jose and finish up your walking tour of the city by going to Basilica de NS da Penha.

The customary cultural activities and distinctive cultural roots of Recife should not be neglected. If you love culture, dancing, music, dance, sculpture, art, painting, folk arts and crafts then Recife is the perfect place for you. Recife is such a charming city, with extremely hospitable people who seem to welcome tourists with open arms.

Recife’s Investing Pull

Why invest in Recife? Most vacation properties in the south of France, in Spain and the Mediterranean region have reached its market peak. Properties are now expensive and a decent place will cost around 200,000 plus pounds. Other parts in Brazil are also already inundated with investors and tourists. Recife is an ingénue; £40,000 will buy you a nice flat in a high rise, and in a decent community. Villas are priced beginning at £150,000.

Recife is a tropical paradise that’s sunny 300 days in a year. Real Estate prices are growing leaps and bounds at around 10- 15% a year (in pounds). Recife has the same profit potentials as Spain 10 years ago.

Having such a relatively young tourism industry and real estate commerce is working to Recife’s advantage. Prices have not yet skyrocketed and people are in awe of the foreigners coming in.

Answers to the Ultimate Question

So, should Brazil share the sensation that is Recife? Will Recife loose its cultural heritage upon the injection of foreign people? The answer depends upon whose eyes you are to look into.

If you can afford to move to Recife and invest on a property to secure your future, then why not buy one? Living in a country not your own entails responsibilities. A person should know his boundaries and should never change traditions. One should also respect the culture of the country that you are about to call your home.

There are a lot of advantages in moving to Recife or even by simply taking a vacation in the city. You can also purchase a flat for investment purposes, but there are disadvantages as well. The differences in cultures and beliefs are one. The 8 hour flight is another. Other than that, everything is worth it! A quiet day in the beach, sun bathing, the great food, the beautiful historical sites, the lovely museum, and the enchanting carnival makes Recife a gem.

So, what are you waiting for? Take a trip to Recife and see for yourself how beautiful the city is, and maybe you will end up owning a flat, a villa, or two and even yield some profit while enjoying your holiday.

In the 17th century a French naval officer named Daniel de la Touche de la Ravardihre founded the city and named it after Saint Louis, in honor of King Louis XIII of France. Although it is the only city originally established by France, the Portuguese captured Sao Luis and then the Dutch followed, but it was the Portuguese that made a lasting impression making São Luis the most Portuguese city in the land of Brazil.

To the west of Sao Luis is the São Marcos Bay, to the east is the São José Bay, and to the north is the Atlantic Ocean, so in essence Sao Luis is all but an Island. São Luis is considered the main seaport of Maranhao and another state: Piaui. It principally produces and then exports, corn, cassava, rice, sugar, cotton, lumber, animal skins and hides, balsam, castor oil, and a kind of palm oil called babassu. They also have a flourishing industry of factories producing hammocks, chemicals, and metallurgical goods plus cacao processing plants, cotton mills, a rum distillery and sugar refineries.

The city itself, is dotted with delightful historic structures that are currently being restored. The Historical Center is the main allure of Sao Luis. The city has over 3,500 colonial buildings dating from 17th to the 18th Centuries, all these are dotted throughout Portimho, Desterro, and Praia Grande. The Historical center is a sort of open air museum overflowing with beautiful architectural wonders, details, and elements where in streets are covered in balconies, narrow side streets, corners and stones that seem to invite visitors to wander around and marvel in the history, culture and the past of Sao Luis.

It is a good thing that these buildings are now being rehabilitated, because the ancient building used to be left alone to fall into disrepair, rot and eventually be destroyed. It is so fortunate that the Government saw the importance of such memorable glimpses of the past that the structures are now being restored into cultural spaces, bars, inns, and museums.

São Luis is the capital of the Maranhão. It is has the most remarkable folkloric expressions and crafts that beckons people from all over the world. Diagonally from the channel are the structural designs of Alcântara, the river Tocantins, Chapada das Mesas, Delta do Parnaiba and the Lencois Maranheses national parks, so you won’t run out of places to go to when you’re in Sao Luis.

The Ceprama bazaar place will give you a wide array of crafts to choose from. Maranhão has such fascinating boats, and if you explore a bit more you will find out that Brazil possesses diverse building techniques specifically for boats.

Sao Luis’ cuisine is a result of Black and Portuguese cultures, with just a hint of Brazilian Indian called farinha de mandioca mixed in. Sao Luis has a lot of mangrove, rivers and an extensive coast. Its no wonder, the diet locally is made up of fish and sea food and of course the ever present rice.

The diversity isn’t only in the cuisine but also in the region’s religious preferences, music and artistical manifestations. In fact Sao Luis is noted as the reggae capital of Brazil. The most animated time is during festivities from May to June. Festivals like Tambor de Criuola , Tambor de Mina São Gonçalo dances, São João and Divino Espírito Santo are sure to delight and pique the interest of anyone.

The weather in Sao Luis is humid and incredibly hot so water therapy is advisable. The city itself is not friendly to people walking around in high heels, so wear cool cotton clothing, wear hats and sunglasses too. what’s more the crossing between Alcantara and Sao Luis can get a bit rough so do it when the climate is nice, during January to July.
São Luis Experience For The British

Brazil is very well known for its carnivals, and Sao Luis is no exception. It is an eruption of brightly colored feathers, white toothed smiles booty shaking, and partying all night long. In the midst of all the carnival chaos are the British laughing and enjoying with the Brazilians, dressed in cool tropical clothes and sporting a nice tan- most of whom will probably choose to purchase a second home in Sao Luis.

Potential buyers usually head to the larger cities of Brazil, like Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza, and Salvador. Yet, Sao Luis is slowly making itself distinguishable. Today, Sao Luis is being inundated with residential resort communities, golf courses, plastic surgery get aways, and spas.

A flight from London to Sao Luis will take up to 9 hours, and costs around £400. Despite this, Britons are making a sabbatical and going to Sao Luis, which shows that the pull of Sao Luis is truly irresistible. It’s probably the low cost of living, and affordable real estate prices that is making Britons stand up and notice Sao Luis.

Lately property prices in Sao Luis and the whole of Brazil are showing tremendous growth rates of up to 20% annually. As a matter of fact, some areas in Brazil are even projected to have at least 1000% growth in as little as five years. Plus, the Brazilian government is also campaigning to increase holiday makers traffic, by using the lure of the 2014 World Cup to held all across the country.

Brazil is fast becoming a lot like the property boom of Spain around 20 years ago. A tad reasonably priced than Spain or the Caribbean, Brazil is now becoming the place to be and the place to invest.

However, there is no well established British community in Sao Luis. This is due to the fact that Sao Luis is fairly new to the property market race and is yet to make itself prominently known. This is not deterrence because there are already British people living in Sao Luis who keep blogs and websites updated.

There are a few things to consider before packing your bags and moving to Sao Luis, the language is predominantly Portuguese and English is rarely spoken. This is a City that is not fully “modernized” so don’t expect too much. The amenities are already fairly comfortable but don’t expect high-tech unless you’re bringing it yourself.

So, you’re in the tube riding happily on your way back to your flat, when suddenly you hear two people talking about how drab the weather in London can be, and how they wished they could go somewhere tropical. Then you can’t help but overhearing that you could purchase an idyllic home with a pool sitting on 10 acres of gorgeous land for £50,000 and maybe even under.

Of course, you’ll be flabbergasted, where in the world can you find such a steal? So you continue to eavesdrop, you hear the words Brazil, Bahia, and Salvador. In a trance, you get home and immediately look those places up on the internet.

Getting To Know Salvador

São Salvador da Baía de Todos os Santos, which means “Holy Savior of All Saints’ Bay” is a city situated on the northeast coast of the country Brazil. It is the capital of Bahia. Salvador da Bahia is the first and one of the oldest colonial capitals of the New World. After Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo, it is the third most populated but certainly the richest city in Brazil.

In 1502 Portuguese sailors stumbled upon a bay which they named Baia de Todos os Santos because it was All Saints Day, hence the name Salvador. Rio de Janeiro was not always the capital of Brazil. The capital of Brazil was originally Salvador until it was changed in 1763.From then until this day; Salvador is a major city port that is a rich industrial and agricultural region covering the entire northern part of Bahia’s coast.

The terrain is varied from stumpy mountains to rolling hills and flat lands. Its coastline is quite distinct, due to the fact that it progresses from white sandy beaches, to cliffs, to mangrove swamps and spotting of numerous islands. This type of environment fosters a rich ecological system which is probably why Salvador is rich in seafood.

Despite its warm and humid weather, Salvador does not have extreme temperatures, and the city itself is just slightly windy to drive the heat out, because trade winds blow from the Atlantic Ocean. Storms and hurricanes are also unknown even though Salvador is a tropical country.

Salvador is a great place for the British sun worshippers. Activities include surfing, underwater fishing, diving, sailing, and swimming. The beaches are so lovely, and they are encompassed with coral reefs which forms natural mini pools for children to swim and play in.

Salvador is multi-ethnic and has a diverse culture. This is evident in their culinary delights, dance, traditions and martial arts. This city’s staple is usually made up of rich and spicy seafood influenced by African flavors and spices. The martial arts, Capoeira calls Salvador home. Capoeira is a mixture of dance and hand to hand combat performed as if to the beats of the music being played.
Investment and Real Estate Wonder

Capoeira is well known through out the world, Just like Adriana Lima the Victoria secret model who was born in Salvador. What is not known is that, Britons may acquire a home in Brazil that could put David Beckham to shame. Annual residential values are currently growing at 20% each year. In a property market exhibit in Manchester, Salvador came out as the top Brazilian city destination of choice.

Bahia a north east coast state in Brazil is a 12 hour flight from London. Now, this may sound daunting, but the moment you step into Salvador and see the palm tree lined coast you will definitely exclaim heaven!

In the 16th century, slaves were brought in from Africa to work on Portuguese owned sugar plantations. That is why people in Salvador are usually African Brazilians. However, at present, Salvador is riddled with the allures of the multi ethnic diversity that comprises and defines the city. British citizens are lured by the prospect of inexpensive lands, low cost of living, a great climate and charming fishing hamlets.

Americans have not yet realized the potential of Salvador and Brazil itself. This is an advantage on its own, for the real estate market is ripe for the picking. Salvador have a lot of properties waiting to be discovered and bought, but the great thing is that should you have qualms you can always resell because there are a lot of people eager to get into the Salvador property market.

Salvador is being regarded as the last reasonably priced piece of paradise. Envisage yourself owning a 3 bedroom villa along the beach for just £45,000 or less and then you will really be able to say that this is life!

Salvador is an enchanting colonial city with beautiful beaches and wonderful people. The structural built of the city itself is remarkable, a mixture of the old and the new all stirred up together. Despite the old world feel Salvador has all the amenities you can find in England.

Houses that you have bought for £50,000 may be rented for £200 to £500 a week because Salvador is never lacking for tourists who love the comforts of a house, and the money they could save. If you don’t want a villa or a sprawling house with a huge land area you can always opt for a flat. This will only cost you £30,000. Again, you can rent out the flat when you’re not using it.

Salvador is a good alternative and a lot more economical than Spain. The souths of France, Italy or the Mediterranean are also good alternatives. A flat in Spain will cost you more than £150,000. What’s more Spain’s real estate industry has already reached its climax, so growth rates have slowed and prices are already up to the ceiling. If you want really long term investment and you can afford it then choose Spain, but if you want an unsaturated market that can give you the long, and short term advantage, then Salvador is the right place for you.

It is important to act now while the Salvador real estate market is still not fully utilized and encumbered with investors, so as to get a leg up and establish roots and find just the right property to buy.

Maceió is a city that results if you add all the wonderful things about other coastal cities in Brazil like food, quality of life, safety, charm, sultry night life, beaches, and azure waters minus the overcrowding. In fact, if you ranked the most beautiful places in Brazil you might even be surprised that Maceió beats them all.

Many travelers are surprised to see that Maceió can offer all the things that Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo combined. The crystal clear water of the city gets even more so the farther south or north you go. Swimming and snorkeling are the main activities the coastline is encompassed by reefs that prevent fierce waves from breaking on shore. Maceió is the scuba diving capital of Brazil.

Well known beaches are dotted with hotels, restaurants, beach bars, and boat excursions, but incase you prefer the quieter places there are remote and nearly deserted beaches.

The Beaches

The highlights of Maceió are the beaches. The beach of Pajuçara and the reefs just off its shores are absolutely priceless. The rock formations are called parrachos. The reefs form natural pools that have sandy pink bottoms. At low tide the pools are populated by colorful sea life and fish and at low tide the water is shallow enough for people to go snorkel and swim in it. Jangadas are small boats that you pay about 4 pounds per person to take you over to the parrachos.

Most of the crowds hang out at the north side of town in Praia Ponta Verde. This is the part of the city where numerous hotels catering to all kinds of budget can be found. Some can be found near the coastal highway and still others a little more inland but still has ready access to the beach. Praia Ponta Verde also has a boardwalk that has grassy knolls, shaded palm tree lined places overlooking the beach that offers great seating for the nearby bar patrons. If you looking for great food, this is the place to go to as you’ll find the best restaurants of Maceió in this area.

Other beaches in the north are Praia da Sereia and Ipioca. The beaches belong to the government of Maceió. Praia da Sereia, in English, means the Mermaid Beach, after the famous reef with the sculpture of a mermaid right on top. There are also a number of restaurants and bars that serve lunch, appetizers and drinks on the tables’ right in the sandy beach.

However, if you favor secluded and quiet beaches, then go to Milagres and maybe even spend the evening at one of the inns located right on the beachfront. A trip to Milagres is never complete without going to Pousada Côte Sud or Pousada da Toque for lunch. There is a wide expanse of wide virgin beach near Milagres in the village of Porto da Rua. There, the water is crystal clear, shallow and warm, as reefs form a succession of pools perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The beach of Maragogi can be found at the end of the north coast. People come here not for Maragogi but for the 6 km sandbar enclosed by reef formations called Galés.

In the southern coast are Barra de São Miguel and Praia Gunga. Gunga has a calm riverside that has kiosks that serve refreshments, beer and coconut water. The entire beach is railed off by groves of palm trees.

It is best to visit Maceió from September to December to avoid the influx of too many holiday makers. The summer months are from December to February and its better to go just before these months because by then prices will have gone up.

Maceió’s allure has always been its beaches and if you plan to invest on the city then its better to scout around and find the best location you might want. The best way to go about doing this is to pack an overnight bag and wander to the south making rounds of all the beautiful beaches. Afterwards go back to the city center to take a rest then move up to the north this time.

There are other isolated beaches that are usually empty, except for the occasional tourist or local looking for a quiet place to relax and unwind. The great thing about Maceió is that it is not as crowded, expensive or too urbanized like other regions.

A History Lesson

It was during the 19th century that Maceió developed due to its enormous sugar export industry via the port of Jaraguá. The port grew so massive that its economy overtook that of its neighbor Marechal Deodoro, which at that time was the capital of the state of Alagoas. Today, Reduced to being a small fishing village Marechal Deodorom, is all but a shadow of its former glorious self. Until this day the port still serves as a major shipping lane. Unfortunately, because of urban development, Maceió has lost 2 of the three major beaches it has to extreme pollution. One of this two was the most favored Jatiúca. Thankfully urban planning saved Pajuçara just in time.

Along the costal highway of Ponta Verde is a colorful arts and crafts market named Cheiro da Terra, which means scent of the earth. The market itself is composed of 200 stands selling local crafts, jewelry, trinkets, and t-shirts. They present dance events together with local music at the stroke of 8pm.

The city is not devoid of romanticism for they have a local outlaw who has been likened to Robin Hood. His name is Lampião and the town even has a museum dedicated to him which houses a complete photographic history of all his exploits.

Getting to and Around Maceió

There are direct flights from Northern Europe to Maceió, Britons can take a flight from London either to Recife or Natal and then take a bus to Maceió. The bus departs every 2 hours and costs 26 Brazilian real.
